 What is Pilates ?

Pilates is a type of exercise that designed to strengthen, stretch and balance the body. The movements and the breathing patterns of the exercises are quite specific. These specific combinations influence and enhance re-training and coordination. The result is a gentle yet dramatic change in core strength, ease of movement and posture.

 How can I experience Pilates?

At Art and Science Physical Therapy and Pilates we offer a wide range of opportunities to experience Pilates: 

  • We have the traditional 50-minute, equipment and Mat classes in small groups of three or four.  
  • We offer private, 50-minute sessions with you and your instructor or the opportunity to have the instructor create a semi-private class for you and a friend.
  • We also have several new classes unique to Art and Science Physical Therapy and Pilates.  Some of these classes combine the equipment, others are shortened to 25 minutes and even others allow you to focus on a specific area of your body for improved flexibility or strength.
