Mission Statement
Focus
of Treatment
Although Art
and Science Physical Therapy and Pilates Rehabilitations can provide
services to any patient with orthopedic or neurologic diagnoses, my
passion, interest and skills are best suited to patients with chronic
conditions.
My practice is built upon the foundations of Manual Therapy
and Movement Re-Training.
Manual
Therapy
My training has been eclectic. Courses studied and applied include,
Spine and Extremity Mobilizations, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation,
Feldenkrais and Therapeutic Touch.
The following areas of emphasis, however, are areas from which I draw
most frequently:
• Myofascial, scar and deep soft tissue work (since 1977)
• CranioSacral Therapy (since 1992)
• Jones’ Strain/CounterStrain (since 1992)
• Orthotic casting and prescription (since 1994)
• Muscle Energy Techniques (since 1995)
• Polestar Certified Pilates Rehabilitation Practitioner (since
2003)
Movement
Re-Training
My career in Physical Therapy has always been drawn toward movement
and movement re-training. It wasn’t until this year that I received
the training which provides me with my most dramatic tools. Pilates
Rehabilitations Certification is reserved only for Physicians, Physical
Therapists, Athletic Trainers, Occupational Therapists or Registered
Nurses – those with formal education and training in musculoskeletal
evaluation and management. This certification program requires 414 hours
of training, a written and a practical exam as well as an oral defense.
